Terms of Service

Last updated: March 29, 2026

Welcome

Dispatch is a service for writing and sending beautiful personal letters to friends and family. These terms govern your use of the Dispatch iOS app, web reader, and related services (together, "Dispatch" or "the Service"). By creating an account or using Dispatch, you agree to these terms.

We've written these in plain language because we believe you should actually understand what you're agreeing to.

Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Dispatch.
  • You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. If you sign in with Apple or Google, their security practices apply to those credentials.
  • One account per person. Don't share your account or create multiple accounts.
  • You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. Account deletion is permanent and removes all your data.

Your content, your ownership

Everything you create on Dispatch belongs to you — your words, your photos, your stories. We don't claim any ownership over your content, and we never will.

By using Dispatch, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and deliver your content to your intended recipients. This license exists solely to make the service work — storing your letter on our servers, displaying it to the person you sent it to, and rendering it on the web reader. We don't use your content for any other purpose.

When you delete a letter or your account, we remove your content from our servers. Backup copies are purged within 90 days.

AI features

Dispatch offers optional AI-powered features including writing polish, tone adjustment, and translation. Here's what you should know:

  • AI features send your letter text to a third-party AI service for processing. Only your text is sent — not your name, email, photos, or any identifying information.
  • AI suggestions are just that — suggestions. You always see the result before accepting it, and your original text is preserved.
  • You are responsible for the final content of every letter you send, whether or not you used AI assistance.
  • AI features may not always produce accurate, appropriate, or satisfactory results. Use your judgment.
  • AI features are entirely optional. You can write and send letters without ever using them.

Acceptable use

Dispatch is for sending personal letters to people you know and care about. You agree not to use it to:

  • Send unsolicited messages or spam to people who haven't agreed to receive your letters.
  • Harass, threaten, stalk, or abuse anyone.
  • Share content that is illegal, obscene, or violates others' rights (including intellectual property).
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts, data, or letters.
  • Use the service for commercial solicitation, advertising, or bulk messaging.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service's infrastructure.

Account termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, particularly for harassment, spam, or illegal activity. If we need to take action:

  • We'll notify you by email with the reason for the action, except in cases involving illegal activity or immediate safety concerns.
  • For first-time minor violations, we'll typically issue a warning before taking further action.
  • You can appeal a termination by contacting us within 30 days.
  • Upon termination, you may request an export of your content within 30 days. After that, your data will be deleted.

Print & mail (coming soon)

We plan to offer a print and mail service that lets you send physical copies of your letters. When this feature launches, the following additional terms will apply:

  • Print and mail is a paid feature. Pricing will be displayed before you confirm each order.
  • Physical delivery times depend on postal services and are estimates, not guarantees.
  • We work with third-party print and fulfillment partners. Your letter content and the recipient's mailing address will be shared with these partners solely for printing and delivery.
  • Refunds for print orders are available if there is a printing or delivery error on our end. We cannot offer refunds for content you chose to send.

Service availability

We work hard to keep Dispatch running smoothly, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service. Servers need maintenance, bugs happen, and the internet is imperfect. We will do our best to notify you in advance of planned downtime.

We may update, modify, or retire features over time. For significant changes, we'll give reasonable notice through the app or by email.

Intellectual property

The Dispatch name, logo, design, and underlying technology are owned by Pookie B Co. These terms don't grant you any right to use our branding or intellectual property beyond normal use of the service.

Limitation of liability

Dispatch is provided "as is" and "as available." We do our best to keep your data safe and the service running, but to the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Dispatch.
  • We are not responsible for content created by users or generated by AI features.
  • Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $50 USD, whichever is greater).
  • We are not liable for delays, failures, or errors in third-party services (authentication providers, AI services, postal delivery).

Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. If we have a disagreement, let's try to work it out first — email us and we'll do our best to resolve things directly. If we can't, any legal proceedings will take place in the courts of Los Angeles County, California.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we'll notify you via email or an in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Minor clarifications or formatting changes may be made without notice.

Continued use of Dispatch after updated terms take effect means you accept those changes. If you disagree with updated terms, you can delete your account before they take effect.
